Grease Lightening Review

Lush Grease Lightening

Grease Lightening £5.95/45g
Lush

A couple of weeks ago I had a major breakout, only a week before I was due to be bridesmaid for my boyfriends sister...stress!
Turns out I was super stressed about numerous things and these are more in check now.
I picked this up from Lush along with the Cosmetic Warrior fresh face mask, Benefit's boo boo zap and Benefit Boi-ing (I needed something to cover up the 'boo boos')
I used this straight away on all my problem areas and noticed how much it calmed down my redness and took away the inflamed areas.
The problem bits were really painful so I couldn't wait to get rid of the gits!
After a few days my skin started to show signs of repair and getting back to normal.
I was still suffering come the wedding but no where near as bad as before.
Since then whenever I feel a little blemish coming up I pop a bit of this on after I've cleansed and toned just before bed and let it work its magic.
I definitely recommend this product, other than it dries the skin a little with excessive use (which can be rectified with a good moisturiser of course) it is really effective.

Anyone else suffer from random breakouts out of the blue?
What do you use to help?

Lush hauling and Catastrophe Cosmetic review

On New years day I decided to dye my lovely blonde locks red...new year new hair colour of course...
My family all hated it, I'm a natural blonde and they all love my hair colour.
I visited my grandad in hospital and his reaction told me I'd best get back to blonde soon...
Oops!
So off I went to the hairdressers, Mum had bought a groupon voucher for a cut and colour so I spent the day in Brighton which was quite the nice way to spend a day off.
The hairdressers was called Cisco's Karma and I couldn't reccomend them enough.
Such a relaxed environment and a lovely salon all round.
The hairdresser managed to lift the majority of the red and I came out very happy.
He suggested I invest in a purple shampoo to try and ash out some of the red still in my hair so off I trotted to Lush, £30 later I was a happy bunny :)
Now just waiting for the 15th March when I'll be going bright blonde with pastel pink ombre

(this is two cumalitive lush hauls, if I could get this all for £30 that would be a miracle!)
Daddy-O Shampoo~£15.50/500g
Marilyn Hair Treatment~£8.50/225g
Herbalism~ Random act of kindness whoop
Catastrophe Cosmetic~£5.75/75g
Tea Tree Water~£7.00/250g
No Drought~£6.50/115g
What Lush says: You know those times when you get one or two spots and it throws you into panic? Well, this mask is here to lend you a bit of perspective, to tell you to calm down, it’s not the end of the world and it’s nothing that can't be sorted. Basically, this is your best mate in a pot.

Irish moss gel will soften the skin, whilst almond oil will moisturise and leave it supple.
Fresh blueberries are full of vitamins and minerals and are anitoxidant. Rose absolute and chamomile essential oil will reduce redness and irritation. Calamine and talc will deep clean and soothe the skin at the same time.
Combined together they provide your skin with a good deep cleanse without causing puffiness – leaving the face cool, clear and calm.

This is a deep cleansing mask that it designed for regular maintenance to keep the skin clean and clear. Regular deep cleaning can avoid spots occurring and keep skin in top condition

All the goodness in this mask makes it seem like the best choice for my skin right now.
I keep breaking out so all the soothing and deep cleansing qualities are right up my street.
As with any face mask you look like some sort of swamp monster wearing it...love sending my mum photos of that!
I will say I've only used this once but my skins already getting better, with a regular facial routine I hope to remain spot free...wish me luck!

LUSH Review: Lemslip Soap

I love Lush and all the goodies they stock. Unfortunately they discontinue products to make way for new ones on a regular basis which sucks when it's a product you use religiously and actually works...Lemslip is such a product for me.

Like a lot of people I suffer from the occasional blemish on my body rather than face and using a block of soap is a much more cost effective way to combat this rather than using facial wash on the body. Since I've been using Lemslip I've noticed a massive difference and only get the occasional blemish if any. Hence being gutted they've discontinued it. I use it on a daily basis as a general body soap, the lemon smell is gorgeous especially first thing in the morning when your struggling to wake up.

What Lush says about Lemslip:'Lemslip soap is the biggest bargain of all our Butter Cream Shower Soaps, but this is only one of the reasons why it's a best seller. The other is that sea salt and its antimicrobial lemon, lime and sweet wild orange scent help to clear up spots all over a body that gets a bit oily now and again. Who doesn't want a nice clear back, front, arms and legs? No-one. So who wants to slip a slice of Lemslip all over their bodies?'

And according to the website I'm not the only one who will miss it, a lot of people disagree with the removal of Lemslip from the regular Lush line up. Here's hoping they make it into a retro product! Just glad I've got a large chunk of it left but once that's finished the hunt begins for a replacement. A staff member did recommend a few things, these being...

  • Bohemian soap- the pure lemon oil in it is supposed to be good for clearing up skin along with the added glycerin
  • Sexy Peel soap- I think that may be more to do with the scent and orange peel in it
  • Mask of Magnaminity- A rather pricey alternative compared to a soap but according to the website could be something to try out
Anyone else tried Lemslip or know of any alternatives to give a go?

Dream Cream Review

I was given Lush's Dream Cream hand and body lotion for Christmas by my Mum
I remembered one of my Auntie's raving about it a few years ago and was eager to try it
It's a little more expensive than my average body lotions but I still put it on my Christmas list to try..
£10.25 for 240g
What Lush say: 'Incredibly soothing body lotion for troubled skin. Dream Cream is Lush's best-selling product because it makes sore skin feel good again. Chamomile and lavender calm irritations, reduce redness and banish blotches. We also use oat milk, too, which has traditionally been used on troubled skin for centuries. It contains everything nature makes for soothing your skin.'
Ingredients:
Oat Milk (Avena sativa), Rose Water (Rosa centifolia), Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Tincture of Benzoin (Styrax benzoin), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Chamomile Blue Oil (Matricaria chamomilla), Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia), Lavender Oil (Lavandula angustifolia), Cetearyl Alcohol, *Geraniol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
What I think: I love this body lotion. The smell of lavender can be a bit overpowering, I'm not the biggest fan of the smell to be honest but can tolerate it. It seems to me like it's soothing qualities would be ideal before bed but I've only used the cream after my morning showers so far. The cream's not too thick, just the right consistency and soaks in to my skin really quickly. Leaves it feeling really soft as well. I suffered from eczema when I was younger but not much anymore, I just have sensitive skin and this cream hasn't caused any flare ups at all, in fact it's lovely and calming if my skins a bit sore. Overall I would definitely repurchase Dream Cream, especially with the Lush incentive to save 5 black pots and exchange them for a fresh face mask. I'd say a 4/5, the price is a wee bit high but I understand that's due to all of the natural, organic products.

I'm yet to find a Lush product I don't like!
I'm sure it will probably happen but fingers crossed it doesn't

Review: Lush Lemony Flutter

A couple of weeks ago I decided to buy a few bits from Lush
Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter being one of them
I don't particularly pay much attention to my hands but after my bestie telling me that your hands show your age as you get to the point when it matters I thought I'd better start being nice to them...

I really love the packaging Lush products come in
The black pots are so recognisable and stand out on my 'dressing table'
One day I'll own a white wooden dresser....
The butter is a thick consistency and yellow in colour
It smells like lemons, which I personally adore
Anything citrusy and I'm on it!

What Lush say:We made Lemony Flutter to soften your cuticles; it's our thickest cream out there. It's so good at softening your cuticles and nourishing your nails that LUSH customers have been using it to soften and nourish lots of other body parts like their feet, elbows and knees

What I say: I've really enjoyed using this. I slather it on most nights (when I remember) before I go to bed as I do find it can be a bit greasy on my hands and this can be an issue during the day, I put this down to the thickness of the cream. I love the smell and texture :)
As well as using this as a hand cream I do pop a bit on my elbows and knees as mine tend to get quite dry, especially elbows, and it moisturises a treat. Overall I've really enjoyed Lemony Flutter and will definitely repurchase when I run out.

Does anyone know if this is included in the 5 black pots scheme thingy Lush do?

Well there was my first in depth review, hope it wasn't too craptastic!

Much Loves

Word on the street you got something to show me...

Hello Ladies
I've been a bit naughty in my 'down in the dumps' state
A small Lush order made it's way to me late last week
Soon to be joined by an ELF and MAC party
I'm really quite excited to try all my new goodies
And will be sure to pop reviews up as soon as I get a chance
Hopefully things will get better as my bank balance can't handle the spending!

 The Ex-Factor
£1.99
I haven't had a chance to use this yet as I don't have a bath at home
Trip to Mum's is on the cards
It looks so cute though, I love gingerbread men

Magic Mushroom
£2.30
Again I need a bath for this one
Smells gorgeous and hope it makes my feel nice and soft

 It's Raining Men
£14.25 for a large bottle
I love the Honey I washed The Kids soap, the smell is divine!
So obviously I couldn't resist this beaut
It feels lovely and moisturising but I haven't used it in the shower yet as I'm ploughing my way through my stash of Snow Fairy at the gym and have reserved this and Glogg for my home showers
Not to sound dirty but I haven't showered at home for nearly a week....it's good though it means I've been to the gym everyday :)
American Cream Hair Conditioner
£12.99 for 500g
I've been using the Aussie 3minute miracle conditioner for a while and fancied a change
When I do get to shower at home I like to use an intense conditioner and hope to indulge in this and maybe a bit of the Aussie if my hair is particularly rubbishy

I do intend to do proper reviews of all of these as and when I use them
A brief selection preview of what's to come from the postman:
Mac Well Dressed Blush
Mac Nymphette Lipglass
Elf Cream Eyeliner
Elf Blusher and Bronzer duo

I'm also considering getting these drawers and matching boxes to make a start in organising my make up collection which is ever expanding. If I order today it could be my weekend's mission to organise it all...

Take Care lovelies
