Meet Dermalogica Kit

I recently took out a subscription to Marie Claire magazine and received the Dermalogica set as a free gift, just as well really as I don't seem to receive the free gifts with the magazine!
I wait to subscribe to a magazine until the free gift draws me in and I'd been wanting to try out some more Dermalogica products for so long so this was the perfect opportunity
In the trial set I received mini versions of four cult classics; Special Cleansing Gel, Daily Microfoliant, Skin Smoothing Cream, Multivitamin Power Firm
The Daily Microfoliant has been on my lust list for so long so I really wanted to try it out.
It's the perfect daily exfoliant as it's not too harsh on the skin, it is just the right amount of scrubby to be used everyday. In combination with the rest of the products my skin is feeling softer and smoother, al though it's no where near perfect!
The Special Cleansing Gel has become my go to cleanser for everyday use
It foams slightly and cleanses deeply thoroughly removing any trace of makeup left on my skin, I feel like my skin is so clean after I've used this
The Skin Smoothing Cream is a daily medium weight moisturiser
It's been working fantastically as a barrier against the really harsh winter weather at the moment and combating all my dryness
The Multivitamin Power Firm is for mature and prematurely aging skin so I haven't really been using this much. I tried it around my eye area and the skin felt really smooth, I may keep it up as a preventive measure to aging...

Looking at the Dermalogica website there are so many other products I'd love to try
Are there any you recommend?

Haus of Gloi Autumn products

haus of gloi

My first purchase of Haus of Gloi products...
Easily influenced, after seeing The Sunday Girl's post on the Halloween exclusive goodies I had to make an impluse purchase especially as the Halloween scents are limited edition I didn't want to miss out.
...Already being tempted by the Yule range
I'd been lemming the body scrubs and exfoliators so had to give them a try, and
of course the body butters, love a good body butter especially in the winter

In my little 'haul' above I have:
Pumpkin Queen Sugar Exfoliant
Honeysuckle Lemon Curd Pumpkin Butter
Ghost Puffs Soft Bubbling Scrub
Litchi Milk Tea Pumpkin Butter
Imp Sugar Exfoliant
Butter Pecan Lip Balm
Gingersnap Lip Balm

sugar exfoliant

I've never really been too fussed about body exfoliators but recently I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin and that it may well need a little attention
As these are only a small sample jar I thought they would be perfect to give the formula a try before committing to a larger version
The scents I purchased are the Pumpkin Queen and Imp scents
All of the products I purchased have sweet and fruity scents which is something I look for when shopping for body products
I'm not a huge fan of anything overly floral or spicy but a little is alright
The Pumpkin Queen scent actually has hints of peach in which is my all time favourite scent
If something has peaches in it I'm all over it!
The Imp scent is again rather sweet

soft bubbling scrub

Ghost Puffs Soft Bubbling Scrub
This smells divine!
It's a mixture of buttery popcorn (nom!) and marshmallow (double nom!)
It could be too sweet for some tastes but to me it's perfect
A slightly different scrub to the above
It's smoother, and not so grainy.
There's cocoa butter in the formula so leaves your skin super smooth

pumpkin butter

I love love looooooove Lychees (not sure why haus of gloi spell it weirdly)
Their scent is gorgeous too, not quite my favourite peach will hold that spot forever
But I do love this nearly as much
It's sweet and fruity with almost a floral undertone, a bit like when you eat a lychee it's mainly fruity but there's a perfume kind of floral taste too
These are extremely moisturising and sink into the skin really quick as well
I've got the Honeysuckle and Lemon Curd flavour on my desk at work to pop on my elbows and fore arms during the day
The scent lingers well too which I like as it's such a nice smell to catch a waft of

I also bought two of the lip balms as I seem to be the biggest lip balm addict!
The Butter pecan is over sweet to me, shocking I know, it smells too sweet and overpowering, a bit sickly too
I still use it but not as much as I'd like to
The Gingersnaps is pleasant as the ginger isn't too strong
Both balms are really moisturising and last well on the lips

Liz Earle ~ Rose and Lavender Cleanse and Polish

Liz Earle

Liz Earle September Skincare Essentials Programme
£41.00

Liz Earle is a brand I've wanted to dabble in for a long time now.
I've seen it mentioned on many different blogs and heard rave reviews, but for some reason every reason I've gone to purchase something I've not had any money left or had to  buy something else...but I finally took the plunge.
What I love the most about Liz Earle is how she only uses natural products so all the crappy chemicals I normally plaster on my face aren't present.
Hopefully this will stop my breakouts or at least help.
I'm itching to get my hands on some of the make-up range now available, think I'll have to wait till Christmas now (yep not long till C-Day!!)

I decided to go for a kit as it allowed me to try a few things out.
In the September Skincare Essentials Kit you get a choice of the original version of the infamous Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser or the Limited Edition Princes Trust Rose and Lavender version. I went for the limited edition as one it looks so pretty and two sounded like it would smell gorgeous.
In the kit was also an instant skin boost tonic and skin repair moisturiser.
I also received a free sample of the original Cleanse and Polish so can try this out too.

So far I've been really enjoying using all of the products.
I now give myself 10 minutes every night to wind down before bed and have some time to myself to pamper... I use the cleanse and polish first, then the toner and then the moisturiser..followed by my dermalogica total eye care and some kiehl's lip balm.
I am loving this routine and find my skin seems to look a bit glowy. Always a good thing!

Have you tried any Liz Earle products?

Current Favourite Foundation Combination

IMG_2003

I've recently been combining two foundations to achieve my perfect base
My Mum received the Clarins tinted moisturiser, HydraQuench tinted Moisturiser SPF6, in shade 5 Gold which was much too dark for her skin tone (and mine I'll add) so she gave it to me. I normally use my MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation but since I've had a tan this has been a bit too light so rather than looking like a ghost I had a mini brain wave and thought I'd mix the two products together. I never get quite the same ratio of products but it always seems to work. The sheerness of the tinted moisturiser means that the heavy coverage of the foundation is toned down enough for summer wear when I don't want a heavy coverage. This is my third tube of the MAC foundation and I most definitely class it as my favourite but I want to try something new but can't quite bring myself to purchase the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation I'm lusting after when I still have a full tube of this in my stash.

I have been loving using this combination and wear it everyday for work.
I don't like to look over done at work as it's a hugely male orientated trade business so being fully made up can make me come across as un-approachable in a way and possibly even like I don't know what I'm talking about...I don't know where I'm going with this...but I don't need anything else to make the men think I'm a blonde bimbo lol! Think I need a more feminine job...

Anyway, together these two products cost around £40 which is ridiculously expensive for a foundation but in theory I'm getting double the amount of product than I would with one foundation so it's not that bad.

Here's the combo in action

Anyone else mix together products to get their perfect item?
