New York Make Up Haul

new york haul

close up haul

close up 2

So just over a month ago I set off to New York with my Mum
It felt like we had been waiting so long for this holiday (well it was just under a year..)
I had a pretty good idea of a few products I wanted to pick up whilst in the states
Mostly stuff we can't get easily in the UK or are a lot cheaper in the US
The above haul is all the makeup goodies picked up, there was also a trip to Bath and Bodyworks (why don't we have that here!!!???) and to the beauty section in Victoria's Secrets.
I've also discovered the perfect skincare routine for my troublesome skin...it may or may not include the addition of a Clarisonic Mia to my arsenal

As you can see from the photos I went a little crazy for nail polishes
The Essies were only $7 and the OPI's were $9 on the cruise so I couldn't resist them
I also finally picked up the feather effect Nails Inc polishes, only $9, and the Illamasqua Speckle polishes which I'd been lusting after for so long
There are a few things missing from the photos as they are already well and truly implemented in my everyday make up bags but I will be reviewing everything I purchased

Hope you're all good :)
Don't forget to follow me via Bloglovin with GFC going down tomorrow

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow in 'Pink Gold'

pink

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 hour Eyeshadow
Pink Gold
£4.99

I've already reviewed of the other shades available in the Maybelline colour tattoo eyeshadows but this has to be my favourite by far
A gorgeous creamy pink colour which seems to show up differently on different skin tones
I've seen swatches on some people where it leans more rose gold whereas on others it can be quite cool and frosty
On myself it's more cooler but not too frosty that it looks barbie pink

pinkgold

As you can see from the above photo it has a lovely shimmer going through it
I don't personally like matte eyeshadows as I feel they lack pigmentation but also look very flat and uninspiring
A little bit of shimmer is alright for day time as long as you don't look like a disco ball
In my opinion there is just enough shimmer to make this a stunning finish but not too much that it can't be used as an everyday shadow
Which is exactly what I use it for
On the mornings where I'm on an early at work I just slick a bit of this on, a little mascara and off I go

swatchh

The formula means it stays in place all day and I can still see the shimmer, with minimal creasing, when I finish a 9 hour shift at work
By this point my foundation is long gone but at least my eyes still look good
A bit of a turn around this colour seems to be exclusive to us in the UK and I can't see it on any of the American websites, considering they have twice as many colours available than us this is different...

Have you tried the Colour Tattoos?

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR

IMG_1999

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eye Shadow

I know these have been out for ages but I wanted to know if they were worth the hype and figured I'd add my two cents into the pot.
I bought three colours of the new Maybelline Colour Tattoos, On and On Bronze, Eternal Gold and Permanent Taupe.
I love the consistency of the eyeshadows and find them to last extremely well on my eyelids.
On and On Bronze is my favourite of the three and I often just dab a bit of this on my lids before trotting off to work in the morning.
Permanent Taupe hasn't really impressed me, I expected it to be a shimmer finish but it's matt as you can see in the swatch. I'm not a massive fan of matt eyeshadows and these are often over looked in any pallet I purchase. This may be one I pass on to my Mum I think.
Eternal Gold is a bit meh for me, it has staying power, is a nice shimmery finish and the colour is alright but it doesn't grab me as much as On and On Bronze in all honesty.
I find these to be similar to the Mac paint pots but not exactly the same. I have Rubenesque from Mac and adore it, the colour and consistency are amazing. The Maybelline eyeshadows feel slightly gritty, not uncomfortably so but not as smooth as Mac. I don't find this to be a problem of such just a difference. There are also a lot more colour options available from Mac as well as all the different limited additions which are released. The Colour Tattoos are currently only available in seven colours, but being priced at only £4.99 they are much cheaper than the Mac alternative.
I'm tempted by the Immortal Charcoal and Eternal Silver colours too...

Have any of you guys tried these?

May Empties

IMG_1263
Chanel Chance Perfume
Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation
Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream
Maybelline Falsies Mascara
MAC Studio Concealer

I'm thinking about starting this as a regular monthly post
I'll do a  collective post once a month and write a brief review of each item...

Chanel Chance Perfume
Ever since this was first released a few years ago I have adopted it as my signature scent, this must be my second large bottle. I love this stuff, the smell is gorgeous and I feel amazing wearing it. I don't wear it to work instead reserving it for my days off. I already have my back up bottle on the go and will continue to repurchase this.

Benefit Some Kinda Gorgeous Foundation
I've had two of these in my make up collection for ages and right now I'm trying to use up all of my random foundations before I explore the foundation world and make a few new purchases (any suggestions feel free to let me know!)
My Mum bought me two of these for Christmas one year and I've never really gotten on with them hence they had been discarded to the realm of forgotten make up.
They don't last very long on my skin and I prefer a liquid foundation to be honest.
I doubt I will repurchase.

Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream
When I bought the new Benefit Foundation I picked up the B Right Mini facial pack.
I've been using this moisturiser day and night and have to say I've loved it.
It's moisturising but not too heavy on my skin so perfect for daytime wear.
There's a few more moisturisers I need to finish before I purchase any new ones but when they are done with I'll definitely repurchase this one.

Maybelline Falsies Mascara
Again for work I don't like to wear any high end make up so stick with drug store brands
This mascara has been perfect and I've already repurchased.
It lengthens and curls my lashes, even thickening them.
Everything I want from a mascara.

MAC Studio Concealer
I use this every day and love the consistency
Thick and creamy, I do find it settles into any lines around my eyes though so tend to use something else in that area.
I had two of these on the go and probably will repurchase this again.

Let me know if you like this kind of post :)
