Rimmel Apocalips
'Stellar' and 'Big Bang'
£.99 Boots

The Rimmel Apocalips are still causing quite the stir in the blogging world with them popping up on various blogs all the time
After reall liking the first two I purchased, Apocalipta and Luna, I bought another two to try out
Both Stellar and Big Bang are completely out of m comfort zone
Every time I venture into bright lip territory either my mum or fiance makes a comment on how bright my lipstick is...normally this is quite mocking and makes me take it off straight away
But I've come to the decision that I will no do this anymore and I'm going to embrace the bright lip and enjoy it!

stellar

Stellar is a stunning colour, it's a rosy kind of bright pink and really wearable for such a bright shade
I think this one is my favourite so far and one I can see myself reaching for over the summer a lot, it's already earnt it's place in my holiday make up bag
I love how glossy these are on the lips but once the gloss has gone they leave behind a gorgeous stain, with Apocalipta I found this to fade really unflatteringly but so far Stellar has been ok.

big bang

Sorry about the super blurriness in the swatch but you ge tthe idea on colour
Big Bang is definitely a true, bright red
I wore this on a recent night out and have to say after one too many cocktails I ended up with a clown like red smile as this smeared all around my lips and stianed the skin...not a great look
Al though the Benefit MUA advised I try a barrier of concealer (specifically the new Fake It) which should stop this from happening
Or I could always not have the extra cocktails!

Over all I am really loving these lip products and will definitely be picking up a few more
Celestial and Nova look like lovely everyday shades, pefect for the office!

Have you ried the Apocalips range yet?

Apocalips Lip Lacquer
Rimmel
£5.99

I'm sure you've all seen the new Apocalips all over the blogging world
I gave in to the hype and have to say I really like them
I bought the bright pink Apocalipta first and found it really flattering on my skin tone
Very bright and in your face so I keep it for nights out, not quite embracing the bright lips for daytime yet
My only problem with Apocalipta is the way it fades, it leaves a very prominent line around the lips and doesn't look very flattering. Al though it lasts a good two hours before this happens
You also need to apply in a mirror to avoid looking like a clown!
However Luna is on the complete opposite end of the colour scale
An orange toned nude which gives just enough colour to the lips to stand out but not as in your face as Apocalipta so a good wearable everyday shade
As you can see from the above pictures it gives a polished look and makes my face look more pulled together
I like the formulation of the products, like a liquid lipstick similar to the Collection 2000 Lip Cremes but glossy
The packaging is also lovely, for a drug store make up brand I think it looks quite high end and I like the angled black lid.

Overall I really like the Apocalips and will definitely be looking at picking up a few other colours

Any recommendations?

FOTD #1

FOTD Products 3rd March

FOTD 3rd March

This is my first 'FOTD' (face of the day) here on my blog so be nice ;)
This is how I did make up to go to our chosen wedding venue and book our wedding date
Exciting! We now have a date, 16th April 2015.
I know it's two years away but I'm so excited
Anyway, I kept my makeup quite natural but wanted to cover my terrible skin
I wish I knew what's been causing it, looking back at pictures from November 2011 and my skin is so clear I could skip wearing foundation but right now I would never dream of doing that, I can't figure out what's changed so drastically, thought bad skin disappears when you get older...
I've been relying on an old favourite for full coverage and that's MAC Studio Sculpt
It can feel quite heavy on the skin but you don't need a thick layer to cover well
I'm also wearing the Rimmel Apocalips in Luna which I haven't photographed in the products picture.

10 Favourite Summer Nail Polishes

As the summer weathers making another appearance this week I thought I would put together a post of my 10 favourite summer nail polishes.
I tend to stick with similar colour groups and coral is a stand out for me.
From my selection I appear to be a bit of an O.P.I whore but I love their colour selection and the ease of use when I use them.
Please excuse the messy application I did this in a rush before going out last night
And I know my cuticles are a right state...I'm working on it. If anyone has any advice on quick fixes let me know!
O.P.I Nail Varnishes
Pink Flamenco
I Vant To Be a Lone Star
Bright Lights Big Colour
Mod About You
Whats With The Catitude
Whats With The catitude: I'm not a huge fan of pale blue varnishes on me but when I have a slight tan they look quite nice
This is my favourite light blue in my collection and I love that it's from the Shrek collection!
Mod About You: I got this polish at the make up show I went to a little while ago. I love it as a base for glitter polishes for a super tacky barbie look! It's a lovely pale pink, opaque in two coats so quick and easy to apply.
Pink Flamenco: A hot fushia pink. NOM! This polish makes me feel kinda sexy if that's possible through a nail varnish.... Like all my O.P.I polishes I love the application of this.
I Vant To Be A Lone Star: Part of the recent Texas Cowboys collection, I bought this on a whim in Sallys and actually really like it. It's quite a cool colour so I wasn't sure how it would look on my skin tone but I quite like it. I think it's almost refreshing...

Bright Lights Big Colour: I LOVE coral at the moment, so much so the dress I've bought for my 21st Birthday party is coral. I just find it very flattering against my skin tone and hair colour. This polish has a bit of gold shimmer shot through it which I think looks really ncie and gives it a little something extra.

Rimmel Parma Violet, Rimmel Show Off, Models Own Coral Reef, Models Own, Beths Blue, China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise
Parma Violet: I was looking for the perfect lilac, not sure this is it but it's still such a pretty colour. Really good wear too!
Show Off: I'm a sucker for a pretty pink colour so of course this appealed to me... Excuse the really bad cuticles...worse than the rest!
Beths Blue: Opaque in two coats, really good wear, lovely colour...winning! I tend to use for pedicures in the summer as it goes with the majority of my sandals/flip flops and wears really well.
Turned Up Turquoise: This could have done with another coat to show it's complete neon-ness... a really stunning colour I always compliments when I wear this. A bit out of my comfort zone but I enjoy pushing my boundaries.
Coral Reef: Another coral...as I said a very summery colour in my books. This is one of my all time favourite polishes and I always reach for it when I'm stumped for colour to use on my nails.
